We've gotten to know Cabe, the hero, in the previous two books. He is part of the Eagle Securities team along with Six and Mac, the heroes from book 1 & 2. Amy, the heroine, is an FBI agent and new to the series. We have continued side characters that have been in previous books. The biggest thing we have learned about Cabe that affects this book is that he lost his fiance while she was on active duty two years prior. I'm a bit conflicted when a deceased significant other is involved. On one We've gotten to know Cabe, the hero, in the previous two books. I'm a bit conflicted when a deceased significant other is involved. On one hand, I don't want to see a main character pining for anyone other than their love interest in the book. On the other hand, it also shows how the new love interest was able to help them move on when no one else could. I think the author did a good job of creating a balance with Cabe. He was still mourning his deceased fiance but he also recognized that Amy was different and there was something real there. I also like how the author had each book with their own storyline that ultimately tied all three of the books together. Overall, this is a great romantic suspense series that I have enjoyed.

The casino is also suspected of being connected to Sokolov, the Russian mobster that Eagle Securities have in their sights. Money laundering, and a whole host of other crimes are why Eagle Securities and FBI are now teaming up to investigate and take down this illegal enterprise. Cabe and Amy working together is a little troublesome since they have a powerful attraction brewing between them. Amy had a bad experience with sexual harassment in the Atlanta FBI offices that caused her to relocate to the San Diego branch. She’s worried getting involved with someone on the job will impact her reputation after that debacle. Cabe also had some reservations about getting involved with Amy. He lost his fiancée two years ago to war violence and as an active undercover FBI Agent, Amy’s job isn’t any less dangerous. Her undercover role in this assignment puts her in the path of these criminals, dangling her as bait to suspected human traffickers. Cabe’s afraid his heart won’t recover if he loses Amy. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and it was only a matter of time before they gave into their desires. I was so happy Cabe and Amy had a mature relationship; there were conflict and doubts, but they talked things out before it got ugly or overly angsty. I’m also happy that Amy didn’t agonize over Cabe’s past engagement or worry about coming in second. Both recognized that his past relationship was just that, in the past. Not that Cabe didn’t have to deal with some guilt, but I was happy he was ready to make peace, let go and move on. Deep Cover wasn’t only a romance though, danger and suspense over the situations both Amy and Cabe had to face kept me on edge. I worried for their safety while glued to the pages! Scarlett Cole is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, whether she writes romantic suspense or rocker romances, she makes you feel! ARC received for review Great conclusion. It made me cry...twice. Cabe and Amy were great together. They worked well together and were really hot. Loved seeing Six and Mac again, plus their ladies. Bad guy from previous books finally gets what's coming to him. There are lots of other members of their teams who could get books, but we don't really get to know them.

Cabe ex Navy SEAL has been working his backside off to get Eagle Security off the ground with his 2 best friends Six and Mac (Who are both smoking hot) Things have been pretty crazy for them all since starting the security services. Cabe has had it easy he lost is fiancée Jess while on a job. She was everything to him they had a fortune planned and everything. Life was great until she was taken away from him. Nearly 2 year since she died it's still hard for him to get over. But Six and Mac try there best to get his mind of it and his job is demanding so that also helps. There is also one people that has started to take his mind of Jess and that Amy the new Agent that they are working with on a case. Cabe really doesn't know how he feels about the feelings he's having for another woman. But when there connection is had strong as there's is it's hard to fight. Amy is goin through her own crap after leaving her job over an incident and starting a new one. She was trying to keep her head down. She had finally gotten to be part of case that meant something to get and she wanted to put her all into it. That's until Cabe walked into the room. There first meeting hadn't been the best and the second wasn't turning out to well either. Men weren't meant to be on her mind after what she has been through. It not like she is off men or anything she has just had enough of the male in her line of work. The only thing is Cabe isn't the sort of man that you can get out of your head easily. This story was so good. I like how all the books connect with each couple. Six and Mac's book were really good as well. The story had me hooked from the start I was dying to know how things were goin to work between Cabe and Amy but I was dying to know what was goin to happen in there case. It was like watching an investigation show with a sexy couple thrown in I was hooked. I m a huge fan of this author so there was no doubt that I was goin to enjoy this book. I knew she wouldn't let me down. I really liked Amy and Cabe characters they have been through some hard times. But together they were perfect. I luvd how understanding Amy was. I don't think there are many women out there that could be like the way she was. She put Cabe's feelings before her own. There is one thing that I like about this series, its that the woman are just has strong as the men. There characters are so strong and they can give any man a run for his money. I would highly recommend this book and series. It's just so good you wont be able to put it down once to start.

I say this so that you realise I went in completely blind and I’m actually sat here feeling very impressed. I found there was enough background that I didn’t feel lost and most of all that this particular story easily pulled me in with strong edgy characters but most of all a plot full of suspense and action that felt incredibly believable. What I really liked here was the tension ramped up between Amy and Cade and their chemistry just pulsated through my kindle. It’s not an easy romance but somehow amongst all the danger and undercover work they do manage to find time for each other. Now anyone who has followed this series will know that two years ago Cades fiancée died leaving a hole that couldn’t be filled and I adored the way the author allowed Cade to address his feelings and yes his guilt. Moving on is not easy for him but he sees in Amy a different future and his inner turmoil added greatly to my belief in him as a character. Amy too has had to overcome obstacles of her own so putting these two together was sheer genius plus I found her relatives so funny! The menace in play in this story kept me eagerly turning the pages and I thought the author did a good job in making this a suspense that captivated me until the very end. There’s camaraderie between the guys, hot romance, real emotion and even a little humour. Best of all though this is well written and very different to other romantic suspense books I’ve read so if like me you haven’t tried this author then I think it’s really time to start ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Scarlett Cole, where have you been all my reading life? Let me start by saying I don't consider this a romance novel at all. It's not about love and pink fluffy things. Cabe’s fiancée, Jess, died two years ago and he’s still struggling to move on and not succeeding very well. However, he is attracted to Amy like no other woman since her and he wants to take a chance. Unfortunately, she works a job that is open to danger, just as Jess did, and he’s not sure he could survive losing another woman again. This was a relatively slow paced book that set up the background and the current situation regarding the bad guys. The setting is primarily in a casino with lots of info on betting, counting cards, and other miscellaneous gambling tidbits. While I liked the hero and heroine well enough, I never really felt a full on chemistry explosion between these two. Part of the reason was due to Cabe’s struggle to move on from the loss of Jess. Even when he didn’t feel the guilt of being with Amy, he was checking to see if he felt it. There was just a lot of remembering his fiancée that took away from the buildup between Amy and Cabe. I’m not a fan of this trope at all so it colored my opinion of the story. The plot and the storyline was excellent with lots of villains and danger at every turn. I was anxious for Amy each time she stepped out to investigate or someone from the casino approached her. I approved of Cabe’s instinct to protect her at all cost even if they lost their target. The ending was satisfying as their case comes to a conclusion and there was a nice little epilogue that gave us a look into their future a few months/weeks later. Overall, if you don’t mind the deceased spouse/lover trope, then you will definitely enjoy this one. 4 stars! Suspenseful and full of chemistry, this is an exciting read with a great romance, and I loved it! The third and final book in the Love Over Duty series, this is the story of Cabe Moss, the last of three friends featured in this series. Cabe and his two best friends grew up together, were SEALs together, and then started Eagle Security, leading a team of badasses on all sorts of badass missions. Cabe has watched his two buddies fall in love and find their HEAs, which brings home to him all 4 stars! Cabe has watched his two buddies fall in love and find their HEAs, which brings home to him all that he is missing out on. It’s been two years since his fiancé was killed while she was serving overseas, and though he still grieves her and knows he’ll love her forever, he’s beginning to feel like he wants the kind of happiness that his friends have found. Amy Harris is a strong and determined FBI agent. She left her last job after being sexually harassed by a superior, and then enduring taunts and gossip. Her fresh start in San Diego sees her continuing an investigation that is very close to her heart – those of women going missing. The case of the missing women appears to be tied in with a money laundering scheme, and all evidence points to a local casino. In a joint effort, the CIA, FBI, Police Department and Eagle Security (due to their previous encounters with the bad guys) team up to investigate, with Cabe and Amy being the ones chosen to go undercover in the casino to figure out what’s going on. From the very beginning, sparks fly between Cabe and Amy. Their attraction is a palpable thing, but there is so much standing in their way. “There are reasons, really good fucking reasons, why you and I should keep our distance. There is shit you don’t know about me, about my past. And there’s this case. And there’s everything that happened to you in Atlanta. It feels like a lot. And yeah, I get it feels insurmountable, because I find myself wondering why the hell I’m even considering you and me.” He took a moment and looked out of the window, up toward the sky. “But?” “But doesn’t it feel worth it, Ames?” he asked quietly. I love the way that, despite their personal battles, they are both so open about what is between them. They admit what they’re feeling and how it’s impacting their work, they talk about all of the possibilities, and I just loved the functionality of it all! And of course their chemistry is off the charts. Their physical attraction is only the beginning of what begins to brew between them as they work together and get to know each other, and real feelings develop, making everything so much more intense until it hits the point where neither of them can hold back any further. “It’s so hard to resist this. I don’t know how to stop it any more than you do.” It’s a beautifully developing love story that is seriously hot, and though it has its ups and downs, it’s managed well. Amy and Cabe are very mature, sensible and realistic about everything, they share a mutual respect for each other both as colleagues and as partners, and I loved watching them work through their feelings as they openly accept what they are starting to become to each other – even in their difficult situation. Because in the middle of it all is the drama of their case. It’s quite involved and there is a lot of detail and book-time dedicated to the mystery/suspense part of the story. There are links with the crime stories in the previous books, which are cleverly intertwined. It’s well-written and kept my interest, and ties in really well with the romance as you can see the two different parts of Amy and Cabe’s relationship developing side by side. Right now, she needed the SEAL, not the lover, no matter how willing he was to do both. I really enjoyed this book. It was well paced and well-written with just the right balance of action and emotion. I loved Cabe and Amy as characters, and loved watching everything happen between them. This was a great read and a gorgeous romance – 4 stars. An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Amy Murray is an FBI agent, newly transferred to the San Diego office after her superior made unwelcome sexual advances. The daughter and granddaughter of legendary Las Vegas high-rollers she is asked to take a key role in a new assignment involving the disappearance of several women over a long period of time which appear to be connected with a casino in San Diego. The plan is to insert Amy as a new blackjack dealer, mirror the circumstances of the other girls who have gone missing and hope whoever is responsible for the women disappearing takes the bait. Cabe Moss is the third founder member of the Eagle Securities, and best friends since the age of 10 with the other two; Six and Mac. Two years ago his fiancee Jess was killed in action and he has been alone ever since. Eagle Securities are tracking a team of terrorists who tried to kill Six's fiancee Lou and steal a formula she developed. They also tried to silence Mac's girlfriend Delaney when she got too close to uncovering their drugs route. Now the team are trying to uncover the money laundering operation and have also identified the same casino as being involved. So there's an alphabet soup of CIA, FBI, San Diego PD and Eagle Securities with skin in the game. If you've read Scarlett's other series you will know she likes to stretch the angst as tight as she can, but not so much in this series and this book has the least angst that I can recall of any of her books. It's simply a cracking good read, with a hero who wants to love again and a heroine who has mad skills and a cool head. They were a brilliant couple and I loved this book. If you are looking for a beautiful heroine who is also clever and quick-witted, an alpha male ex-SEAL with a big heart and a loving family then you've come to the right place. Overall, suitably nail-biting, funny, sweet and sexy in turns. A winner! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review. Bumped for release.

‘Deep Cover’ has an irresistible blurb, and even if Scarlett Cole’s works haven’t always agreed with me, such is the power of blurbs that it has gotten me willing to give her books another go. Still reeling from the loss of his military fiancée, the thought of getting truly involved again is one that he shuns (not being sure of whether he can give that much to another person yet again). So the mess of guilt, pining and uncertainty is the cloud that hangs over Cabe’s and Amy’s burgeoning relation ‘Deep Cover’ has an irresistible blurb, and even if Scarlett Cole’s works haven’t always agreed with me, such is the power of blurbs that it has gotten me willing to give her books another go. Still reeling from the loss of his military fiancée, the thought of getting truly involved again is one that he shuns (not being sure of whether he can give that much to another person yet again). So the mess of guilt, pining and uncertainty is the cloud that hangs over Cabe’s and Amy’s burgeoning relationship, and much of the angst emanates from Cabe’s inability to fathom being with a woman who has the potential to be killed in the line of duty. After a dud meeting in a bar, Cabe and Amy meet again on an undercover op organised by a joint task force and the rest is as they say, either kismet or cliché. Cue the bone-deep attraction that’s forbidden on so many counts, along with Cabe’s own tragic backstory that has a stranglehold on his emotions, I expected a lot of angst, tied in with the taut suspense in this op. But the angst is mostly smoothed out, the emotional bumps in the road overridden instead by the developing case which take precedence over the romance. That said, Cabe/Amy do kind of form a believable pair; Amy’s confidence and competence (her ability to put things down on the table when it mattered) drew me in most of all, since I tend to forget the pleasure that comes with reading about a fantastic or at least, well-formed protagonist. Her foil is perfect to Cabe’s hesitation in any case, and having a good female lead never fails to brighten my day. After a decent start however, I got frustrated at times. Some parts were unevenly paced—the storytelling lingered too much in some bits and rushed through others which I wanted to see drawn out—so I came out of this more nonplussed about the repetitive nature of the writing and Cole’s tendency to draw some details out more than I liked which resulted in a bit of skimming. Switches in POVs however, could definitely be demarcated a lot better too, which I suspect has more to do with an ARC’s formatting than anything else. There are as well, a fair number of secondary characters—along with names and acronyms that may or may not be incidental to the plot—given the nature of the suspense and the operation, with hints of several backstories in the previous books leading up to this one, which could either prove a distraction or be motivation for reading the rest of the books in the series first. It also probably means ‘Deep Cover’ can work as a standalone…though it might pose a few difficulties when dealing with the overall narrative arc. In short, ‘Deep Cover’ is a decent read, though not a perfect, spine-tingling one for me—I’m not entirely sold on the style of storytelling which I’ve rapidly come to recognise as Cole’s here, but it’s certainly one that I can see appealing more broadly to other RS fans. *ARC by the publisher via Netgalley

But he can also admit that he is a bit envious that his friends are finding their happy-ever-afters now when his never materialized. Their team is trying to take down a Russian syndicate that for several reasons has also become personal for them. Amy Murray is an FBI agent who has a personal stake in trying to help find missing women. She is highly intelligent, motivated, brave, caring, and understanding. She has been through several situations that have left their mark on her and shaped the woman she is now. She is determined to go undercover in a casino and use all of her skills to help infiltrate this crime ring. And that means working with Eagle Securities and Cabe. When they are partnered up there is surprising sexual tension and attraction. The lonely man who has not been interested in anyone in years is having a hard time ignoring the pull. He is beginning to feel alive again, and he has a strong need to keep her safe. And the woman determined to stay away from impropriety at work is having just as hard a time avoiding it. Their plan is to try to stay professional at least until the op is over. But that will be challenged by adrenaline, fear, and his need to watch out for her. I really liked both of these two characters. They both had demons to deal with along with the job at hand, but were tenacious and could appreciate the other. It's duty versus lust and love. Can he protect her yet still let her do the job she was trained for? This has suspense, danger, steam, and emotion. There are plenty of layers built into the mission and the casino vibe gives it a different feel. It ties up the progressive story arc from the first two books and brings back the other couples Six and Lou, and Mac and Delaney. I love the funny yet strong dynamic between these long-time friends and their significant others. And there are still other Eagle guys that could become potential heroes if the series continues. I mean there was so much drama and romance it was so good!!! I really loved how Cabe met Amy. I liked they were both in dangerous lines of work. I felt like it was a nice relief from the Macho hero saving the helpless woman. It was nice to see Amy working right along side Cabe. I loved the tension between them. Amy and Cabe had an obvious connection but the job was important to both. They both had reasons in their past to want to see the job get done and not get involved with each other. I loved all of the background characters. Six and Mac were hilarious. I really enjoyed them. I can´t wait to read more by this author. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance!

She plays the role of an undercover dealer in a casino as she was an ace and kicked ass when it came to cards. Having endured uninvited attention in past from her fellow douchebag colleagues for her pretty looks, she is always extra careful at her job and refrains from adding any personal touches to her work relationships. Cabe Moss is an ex-Navy SEAL, smart, get-on-the-nerves handsome, intelligent, a bit asshole-ish at times but amazingly attractive. He is a partner in the Eagle Securities, a special ops firm. He is torn apart due to the loss of his fiancée and feels disloyal towards his fiancée by getting involved with another woman and is still wallowing in his own misery. Amy swiftly fractures his emotional walls to creep her way in his heart. “I want to give you everything you want, everything you need, everything you deserve. Nothing you can ask of me is too much. Do you understand that?” The books kicks off with Amy and Cabe coming together in a cross agency task force to work against a casino, owned by a business family, that deals in drug running, trafficking and money laundering. They work together to put up surveillance, collect intel and evidence, unwind interconnected pieces of puzzles and find the missing women along with other hotasses of Eagle Securities team. Due to high expectations attached to her role in the investigation and her undeserved reputation, Amy has to be laser-focused on her task and cannot afford any distractions in the form of well-built man candy. Both Amy and Cabe have to put their operational priorities first inspite of the pull they experience towards each other. There are sparks flying all over the moment they see each other. Both of them try to keep things professional but their burning desire for each other set the book on fire. There relationship was an intricate affair that slowly unfolded while keeping the explosive sexual chemistry alive. The book hooked me on from the very first page and kept me on my toes. Written from a dual point of view, it was highly engrossing and entertained me throughout the book. The concept of gambling and casinos is well visualized (if not too technical for dumb nuts like me). Story developed smoothly even though it was a fast paced novel. The author formulated and developed the relationships in the book really well. From the camaraderie between the members of the Eagle Securities team to the sexual and emotional development of the lead characters. The backdrop of the story was just as riveting. It was totally badass. The author knows what she is talking about. I could easily relate to her writing. She sure knows how to create an emotional action packed whirlwind to suck you in. Scarlett Cole is new to me and I will definitely be reading more of her works in future. This book definitely gets a big thumbs-up from me.

This is a great addition to this action packed romantic suspense series, a real page turner that takes the reader to the heart of the action, immersing you so it is easy to feel the story coming to life in your imagination. It is the third book in the series and, whilst I suspect it could be read as a standalone, I enjoyed knowing the events from the previous stories and meeting many of the familiar characters again.  Cabe, Mac and Six are ex Navy SEALs who have set up their own company, Eagle Securities, and are frequently called upon by government agencies to assist or take over some of their operations. In this story, the team are working on a multi-agency investigation, endeavouring to bring to justice the perpetrators of crimes the team uncovered in the earlier stories. This time it is agreed that Amy Murray, a feisty FBI operative, will work undercover in a casino whilst Cabe acts as punter and both strive to protect each other whilst also hoping to uncover just how the Casino is the hub for illegal operations. Neither anticipated the attraction that grows between them and both, for their own reasons, try to resist it. Can they complete their mission and stop the illegal activities whilst also being distracted by the feelings developing between them? The story has a plethora of different threads running through it which the investigations slowly reveal more information about. Cabe is still grieving over the death of his fiancee in a military operation two years ago and feels guilty about being attracted to Amy. Amy was the victim of sexual harassment in her previous job and is wary of any interactions with men she's working with as a result of that. There are plenty of problems to be overcome and the story has suspense filled moments along with quick thinking responses and some humorous scenarios, too. I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into this book and have no hesitation in highly recommending it and the whole series! I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Deep Cover is the third book in The Love Over Duty Series and is an interconnected stand-alone novel. Deep Cover follows the story of Cabe and Amy. Cabe is the guy you can always count on when you need him. When called to duty, he'll never let you down. When his fiancee passed away, it nearly destroyed him. He will face his biggest challenge to date when he gets paired up with FBI Agent Amy Murry. Even though Cabe may appear to be the strong, silent type, there is more to him than meets the eye. The stakes are high and sparks are flying all over the place. Will Amy be able to resist Cabe? Will they be able to keep things professional and solve the case?? There's only one way to find out..... Deep Cover is my first book by this author and overall I thought it was an ok read. I was really intrigued by the story-line and the characters. I wanted to know more, though I will admit, the first part of the story did move at a slower pace than I would like. Since the story is not told from the first person point of view, I will admit that I was distracted. With so many characters and the different pov type, I found it hard to concentrate on the story. 2nd & 3rd Person POV is something that I personally struggle with, but do try my best to overcome. Anyways, I liked Amy and Cabe together. Amy was smart and witty. She challenged Cabe and made him want to have a life again. And Cabe was an alpha male with the biggest heart, even when he seemed closed off and wanting to keep things professional. Together, I thought these two meshed well and was looking forward to seeing how their story was going to play out. Deep Cover is one of those stories that I think will be a hit for some and a miss for others. For me, I thought it was an ok read. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. There was a few issues with the story that made it a little hard for me, but in the end, I'm glad I didn't give up on Amy and Cabe's story. I loved the danger and suspense that Deep Cover had to offer and appreciated the light drama associated with Amy and Cabe's romance. As I stated before, this is my first read by this author, and while it wasn't a 100% hit for me, I'd still opening to checking out more from her in the future. *I was provided an ARC copy of this book via the publisher & NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*

There’s not much I enjoy more than a romantic suspense book that perfectly balances the romance and the suspense. And Scarlett Cole pretty much nailed it in this latest installment of her Love Over Duty series. Deep Cover is book three. And Scarlett Cole pretty much nailed it in this latest installment of her Love Over Duty series. Deep Cover is book three. After a strong start that has the reader right in the middle of an op in the middle of the night, and an introduction to the heroine, the author’s way of catching up us new readers (of which I was one) was to have the three owners of Eagle Securities sit around a table at a meeting and talk about how the new operation they’re being pulled into is related to ops from the past. It went something like this: “Remember how when we were doing ABC, XYZ happened?” “Oh yeah, but then Mr. Jones showed up and MNO happened.” “Well, we know Mr. Smith is also involved because my fiancée saw him.” And as much as I appreciate an author not assuming I’ve read the two previous books, and giving us a quick rundown of what went down, it seemed an awkward way to do it. Writing the recap that way made me nervous, although it turned out I needn't be. The rest of the book was smart, fast paced, and enjoyable to read! Cabe Moss is part owner of Eagle Securities, a black ops company formed with his two life-long friends and former Navy SEAL teammates. Their latest operation involves a San Diego casino that is suspected of being involved in money laundering and human trafficking. The person suspected of money laundering apparently had ties with bad guys from the previous books, but the human trafficking is an issue that has come on the radar because seven women - who were previously employed at the casino - have recently disappeared. Agent Amy Murray is the person the FBI has chosen to go undercover at the casino and work with the men of Eagle Securities. Along with her training, she has a unique skill set that makes her perfect for this operation. Like I said, this book had the perfect mix of suspense AND romance. It’s hard to say which I liked best, because the story was action packed and moved quickly. You know who the bad guys are, and what they’re involved in, but things didn’t always go down how the good guys thought they would. It made for an exciting book. As for the romance part. Dreamy sigh… Both Cabe and Amy had some baggage that might have made things complicated for them had they let those issues be larger than they needed to be. Cabe’s fiancée died two years ago when an IED exploded while she was on a routine patrol in Afghanistan. In addition to feeling like he’s betraying the woman he loved, now he’s falling in love with another woman who potentially has an equally dangerous job. Amy recently relocated to the San Diego office of the FBI after a situation with sexual harassment by a superior caused things to be uncomfortable at work. Besides complicating the current operation, getting involved with someone she works with could cause questions about her innocence in the harassment situation. These are very valid issues and concerns they were both dealing with, and the usual route is to make things all angsty and a dramafest. But they weren’t and I really appreciated it! Cabe and Amy shared their feelings and concerns, and were complete adults about everything. There was no pushing away by either of them “for the other’s own good” or any of that nonsense. Also, things between them were steee-meee… I may have found a new romantic suspense author to read. So often you get a story that is heavier one and lighter on the other. When you can find an author that balances both and feeds the desire for each...that’s golden! * thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This is the third in Scarlett Cole’s Love Over Duty series of romantic suspense novels, and right off the bat I should probably say I haven’t read the first two, but I don’t think it really mattered. Yes, there were references to the romances which obviously formed the core of the previous two books as well as an ongoing criminal case, but I had no trouble keeping up what was going on as the main female protagonist, Amy, appeared to be an entirely new character to the series and we learned about the characters and events through her perspective. It was cleverly done and meant the reader could catch up easily, something I see all too rarely in ongoing series. An FBI agent with a unique background - her father is a top poker professional and she practically grew up in the backrooms of Vegas casinos - Amy’s mother’s disappearance was the catalyst for a fierce desire to make a difference in missing persons cases. When several women go missing from a San Diego casino, Amy is eager to use her skills to go undercover and find the victims. Former Navy SEAL Cabe Moss is on the case working a different angle, tracking money laundering activity. Both Cabe and Amy try hard to keep their relationship professional, but the attraction between them is just too strong to be denied. Cabe lost his fiancée to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan a couple of years before this story takes place and he has a significant amount of emotional guilt and trauma to work through as well as professional issues. I really liked Amy’s steady, common-sense approach to… well, everything. From her work to refusing to let Cabe’s protective instincts smother her, she called him on his issues and did what she thought was right every time. Cabe was fairly cookie-cutter as Navy SEAL-type romance heroes go, with the exception of his emotional trauma, which made him much more interesting than he otherwise might have been. His visit to Jess’s grave at Arlington on the anniversary of her death was poignant and painful, and really showcased him as a character of depth. Probably my favourite part of the story was the casino stuff - I feel like Ms. Cole either knows a lot about casinos or has done some very in-depth research, because it read very realistically. My favourite side character was definitely Amy’s Uncle Clive, the ultimate Vegas insider, and I’d love to see him appear in future books with a bigger part! Five stars for an enjoyable and suspenseful read with a nice side of emotional growth for the main characters. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review through NetGalley.

***4 Stars*** I must say that if this is the last book in the series, that I’m at a 50/50 split on really liking how everything was wrapped up to being a little sad because there are a few secondary characters that I’d really like to know more about. But in the end, this was a fun and easy read for me that, had life allowed, I would have finished quite quickly, but since that wasn’t an option I will say that when I could steal a few moments to myself, I thoroughly enjoyed it until the very last ***4 Stars*** I must say that if this is the last book in the series, that I’m at a 50/50 split on really liking how everything was wrapped up to being a little sad because there are a few secondary characters that I’d really like to know more about. I loved Cabe. Honest, loyal and sweet but he’s constructed titanium walls around his heart. I empathized with him, I did, because that kind of loss is something that one never gets over, but I also wanted to reach out and tear those walls down because he was such a good guy that he deserved to give himself a second chance to find love. Amy was pretty damn amazing. Sassy, snarky, determined and highly intelligent. I mean this woman was a force. And then you add in her background ~ the good, the heartbreaking and the unique ~ little facts that make her who she is and she’s kind of everything wrapped up in a nice little package. For all of the issues Amy and Cabe had to deal with, both personal and professional, I really liked how everything played out with their relationship. There were the ups and downs and a couple of bad choices tossed into the mix, but it was the fact that they actually communicated like mature adults through most of it that had me rooting for them. They were honest, or at least as honest as they could be depending on where they were at in their heads, and it made everything work for me. The smexy was definitely smexy, I loved their bantering and how much they simply respected the other on every level and where they ended up at the end of the book was perfect for them. I’m still crossing my toes that this isn’t the last time we’ll hear about these characters, because there are definitely a few that I’d love to know more about, Harley, Lite and Buddha to be exact, but if this is a true farewell then I have to say it was done very well. We got to spend time with everyone and there was a nice little secondary storyline woven into the mix that definitely balanced the tension out with humor and heart and helped to tie up things quite nicely for all of these characters. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

If you have read the first two books in the series (and I really hope you have because they were AMAZING READS) you know that Cabe lost his fiance when she was killed in action during her last deployment, this is something Cabe never thought he'd get over and I don't think it is something you ever really get over but it is something that you can move on from and Amy is the person that has Cabe seeing that as a possibility. There is a lot of romance and tenderness in this story and I for one am very glad for that because we had a couple of delicate situations that needed to be handled correctly or Cabe and Amy may never have gotten their HEA. Cabe struggled with feelings he didn't think he should be feeling, especially since he met Amy in a bar on the birthday of his late fiance's...let just say that first meeting didn't end so well and leave it at that. But Cabe isn't the only one struggling with their feelings, Amy is completely drawn to Cabe but since she transferred to a different FBI headquarters because of sexual harassment she suffered through at her last office she felt that them working together and having a relationship of any type would make it look like she lied about the harassment. Crazy I know but sadly true. We are also dealing with the men that are kidnapping women and believed to be selling them into a sex trafficking ring, money laundering, and all other kinds of bad crap. So Eagle Securities is joining forces with the FBI and CIA in order to crack this case which means Amy and Cabe will be working together and getting closer whether they think its a good idea or not. This is most likely the last book in the series since all three owners of Eagle Securities have gotten their HEAs but I really hope it isn't, there are a couple of secondary characters that will hopefully find a love of their own and keep this series going because I for one really love it. I would recommend this book, heck the entire series, to anyone that enjoys a good romantic suspense with a great love story. This book is low on angst and high on heat. Happy Reading!!! **I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**

There were't a whole lot of feels here though. The whole thing just missed the mark for me. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Scarlett Cole's books. Which means, I either love them or I hate them. This one sort of fell toward the meh category in that scale. It wasn't bad per se, but I also wasn't really entertained. I felt like there was a lot of preparation and lead-up to a conclusion that was super predictable and boring. It got to a point where I was just skimming everything, including the smut--and if you know me, I rarely skim the smut. Cabe and Amy's connection didn't really feel genuine. I sort of felt like because it was on the page I was supposed to believe they had feelings for each other--the only problem is, I didn't feel it at all.

The tragic circumstances behind the loss of his beloved fiancée were horrible, and I believe he was justified in the way he felt. And despite his fears, he fell hard for Amy. And I loved how protective of her he was. And let’s not forget Amy. She’s strong, independent and completely capable of taking care of herself, however she’s putty in Cabe’s arms. And even though she thinks she doesn’t need to depend on anyone else, she’s wrong. Cabe is a perfect fit for her in every way that matters. This book was everything I could wish for in a Romantic Suspense story. A definite must read.

From the two previous books we know that Cabe Moss is an ex Navy Seal that lost his fiancé recently. I always wanted to hear his story and felt so sorry for his loss. I was sincerely hoping that he will get a HEA like his friends and co-workers Six and Mac. Luckily Scarlett didn't let me down. She gave him a second chance at love. And what an amazing second chance that was! It totally surpassed my expectations! Even though the death of his fiancé nearly destroyed him, Ex-Navy SEAL Cabe Moss refuses to let his past interfere with any work that needs to get done. After all he is a professional at his job. When his latest task pushes him to team up with FBI Agent Amy Murray, a blond and fierce  beauty with exceptional skills, Cabe must admit that for the first time in years, he wants to do more than just complete their mission together. Amy was born ready for this special assignment. Her own past shaped her into the person she is today and resulted in her joining the FBI. Working side-by-side with the handsome, strong and frustratingly professional Cabe shouldn't be such a challenge, right? But resisting him and the incredible chemistry between them seems to be the biggest challenge of her life. Prepare for a story with a lot of mind-blowing twists and turns that will make you bite your nails off. I was glued to my kindle from page one, anxiously turning the pages in anticipation what will happen next. I love it when a book consumes me this way. The thing I loved most about Deep Cover was that Scarlett Cole didn't only write a hot, strong and irresistible alpha hero Cabe. She also gave us a strong, fierce and intelligent heroine that was more than just a beautiful face. I loved their dynamic! There was a deep connection between them that was more than physical attraction. They were simply inevitable! I'm sad to see this amazing series coming to an end. It's one of the best I've ever had the pleasure to read and I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. 5 stars for Cabe and Amy!
