I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the My Heart Belongs series. In this one it takes place in Galveston,Texas and I loved the research the author did for this book and the factual information she included in the back of the book. Galveston sounds like a beautiful place I'd love to go visit. This historical is set in 1880. This was a quick fun read with a mystery and a sweet budding love. The character development was there and it was hard to put down. Looking forward to reading more in this serie I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the My Heart Belongs series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book for several reasons: 1) I lived for 30 years just north of Galveston Island and spent many visits there. 2) Kathleen Y'Barbo's historical research is always well done. 3) It was a quaint combination of history, romance, and a bit of cozy mystery. It is 1880's in Galveston Texas. Joshua Cahill, a Pinkerton Detective, and Madeline Latour, a newspaper writer now working as a memoir writer, have once again reconnected. It is 1880's in Galveston Texas. Joshua Cahill, a Pinkerton Detective, and Madeline Latour, a newspaper writer now working as a memoir writer, have once again reconnected. This time they are both working on solving the mystery of the disappearance of the infant granddaughter of wealthy Mrs. Smith. Their connection had been severed by a broken engagement when trust had been broken between Joshua and Madeline. With lots of action from start to finish, surrounded with bits of humor, this book definitely kept my interest. Throw in a search for pirate treasure and a missing granddaughter, family secrets, people pretending to be someone they aren't, and a nosy reporter, this book was definitely a winner in this lighthearted My Heart Belongs series. **I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Books through NetGalley. Three of my favorite topics, yes? In all honestly, I truly, really enjoyed this novel. There was lots of faith content, a sweet romance with the best banter, a goose-bump worthy prologue, and a mystery. Some might not like the ending of the mystery, but I was quite satisfied. History fans should enjoy as well. Even though I don’t believe it will happen, I would love to see a follow up book, even just a short novella! (But another actual book would be the loveliest. ;)) I was overall really impressed and loved all the Texas history parts for sure. :) “There went that twinge again. Her mother would ask if she would be able to offer that excuse to the Lord and feel good about it. At this moment, Madeline knew the answer was a most uncomfortable no.” -p. 86 Link to review: https://booksforchristiangirls.blogsp... *BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. I was surprised when the bombshells started to drop, and never saw a lot of them coming. In fact, some I am still wondering about. In hindsight, I can see what Mrs. Smith was doing, and what she was trying to achieve, while she had people searching for her Granddaughter, she kept some facts close at hand. From pirate treasure, to lost babies, we are looking for seems to be a needle in a haystack, and some of these people are not the person that are presenting to the public. You need to read all the way for the answers, but wow an enjoyable story! I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour Books, and was not required to give a positive review.

Reading this gets me caught up on the series to date, but man, did I have to slog through this one! I had a hard time connecting with Jonah and Maddy. Their previous relationship was mentioned only briefly, and I didn't have a clear understanding as to what caused their break up in the first place. The mystery was front and center here, but there were so many different mysteries going on that I found it hard to keep up with them all! Eventually, they work their way back to each other, but I had a hard time investing in them as a couple. The faith theme was very non-existent to me, though mentions were made of faith upon occasion. I did enjoy the historical setting of Galveston and seeing what the area might have been like in that era, which saved the book from a 1 star rating. I think this might be my only time of reading this author.

My Heart Belongs in Galveston, Texas is a fabulous addition to the My Heart Belongs series. I think it is among my favorites so far from the series. Madeline and Jonah were so fun together. I could not help but to laugh out loud at those two. I loved and enjoyed the mystery and suspense with the story. I give My Heart Belongs in Galveston, Texas five plus stars. First impressions are always important to me, especially in books. So obviously the first thing I notice right off the bat, is that gorgeous cover! I love Madeline's sky blue dress and the wistful look on her face. It makes me wonder what she's looking at on the horizon. Since I live on the Oregon coast, I also love that she's standing on the beach with a fog shrouded pier in the background. Such a cover draws the eyes right away and makes my reader taste buds water for the story in the pages! S First impressions are always important to me, especially in books. Such a cover draws the eyes right away and makes my reader taste buds water for the story in the pages! Secondly, I'm so thrilled for the main character to be a male, and not only male, but a Pinkerton detective. I adore stories involving Pinkerton's because you know it's going to have a bit of a mystery in it to solve! Thirdly, both Madeline & Jonah have a past romantic history between them. It adds an extra layer of tension and conflict to keep me invested in their lives. I'm finding this book ticks all my favorite things about a story I love! Lastly, Kathleen is a new-to-me author. Of course I've seen her name on many other books, but this is the first one I've read by her, so I'm equally thrilled to discover a new writer. It's like making a new friend, at least in the literary world! Buried treasure, a long lost granddaughter and the mystery of family secrets unite both Jonah and Madeline when Mrs. Smith hires them. Having a past romantic history that ended years before, they reluctantly agree to put aside their differences to find what happened to her granddaughter. Following the clues they find, there seems to be more questions than answers and many pieces to put together. But for a Pinkerton agent & an investigative reporter, it’s what they’re best at! I liked trying to solve the case along with them and watching the romance develop between them. Forgiveness plays a big role and a united front helps them to overcome their past. Reading the authors notes in the back, I learned what parts of history were true and which she took fictional liberty to write the story. Her research is impeccable and it shows! I think anyone who is a history buff and an arm chair sleuth will enjoy this. Be sure to check out the rest of the My Heart Belongs In series…all stand alone novels by different authors set in various times in history! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. *

There might still be tension. Lots of tension. The mystery was well executed with some misdirection, but I felt that in the end it was a bit rushed, all the explanations in a few pages were a bit too crowded, especially since every character written about in the book were together in the same room. What I loved the most is the writing style. It was quite humorous actually, and you just have to keep reading. The characters are also quite fun, especially the bickering between Jason and Madeleine. All in all quite entertaining. This e-copy was given to me by Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The main characters were interesting and likable, though Jonah did have a tendency to accuse first and think through the facts later. Madeline’s Search was a unique read and had me turning pages rather quickly. What I liked was that there was a 25 year old mystery that needed to be solved. Interesting read! I've enjoyed Kathleen's writing in the past, and I truly enjoy her plots and ideas! There were some times when I would have liked a little less detail in descriptions, but I think the readers that have actually been to the places she's talking about might enjoy the added detail. My Thoughts: Galveston, a Pinkerton agent, partners at odds, romance, and mystery: There was every reason for me to pick up this novel! I really enjoyed this story of a Pinkerton detective and a female reporter working together to solve a mystery in 1880's Galveston. Kathleen Y'Barbo demonstrates her expertise with research, filling the story with historical details that brings the setting to life. 3.5 stars: A light, entertaining read. I enjoyed learning more about Jean Lafitte and Galveston, and Pinkertons are always a fun addition. I did especially enjoy the predicaments Madeline gets herself into, granting Jonah ample opportunity to rescue her (be it her life or her dignity). The author developed such an intricate backstory that it felt like there could have been a book before this one following the case that caused the rift between Madeline and Jonah (while not pertinent to the curren 3.5 stars: A light, entertaining read. This was a fun look at Galveston, Texas back in the late 1800's. A Pinkerton detective and a reporter with a romantic history join forces to solve a decades old mystery. The story was interesting and the kept me wondering how the threads of the mystery would all tie together. Add the romance thrown in and it made for a fun Sunday read. I received this book through Net Galley and was not required to post a review. All thoughts are my own.

I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down, I was so excited for Jonah and Madeline to find Madame Smith’s granddaughter! The characters were wonderful! I loved the flirty banter between Jonah and Madeline. Then there is Madame, she was my favorite, she is always one step a head! The story has several mysteries to be solved and many surprises. You will not want to put this book down! Kathleen YBarbo does not disappoint!

Mystery and Romance! Loved it! Possible pirate treasure, a Pinkerton detective, an intriguing reporter, and family secrets. Add the search for a long lost grand-daughter and a few other mysteries and you have a great story! The romance is light and very sweetly told.

The My heart belongs in series has been an amazing collection of stories. Each written by a different author, each set in their own setting and time period. I was excited about this one since it featured a Pinkerton Detective. ( I love reading about Pinkertons and spies : ) ) The characters are well written, the storyline moves at a perfect pace. The author did great research to make is as historically accurate as she could. Wonderful story. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bar The My heart belongs in series has been an amazing collection of stories.
