My Review: I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this steamy and engaging tale much more than I expected, as I don’t often read rocker-star romances. The premise was original and interesting while the writing was well paced, insightfully observant, and held my avid attention. And as enticing as all that was, I always find Ms. Lacey’s characters to be my favorite aspect of her work. Her characters tend to be well nuanced, alluring, a bit fractured, and undeniably endearing. I’ve heard of drunk-dialing, and umm, maybe even committed that discourteous act a time or ten, but drunk-married was a new term and whole other level of faux pas, hooray - I don’t feel so shame-faced now.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Unwritten, I was very excited to read about Kate's assistant Jenn. While Jenn was really only a secondary character in the first book, she very much deserved her own story since it was easy to see that she wanted more from her life than simply being an assistant. And boy did she ever break out of her mold! After an evening of drinking, Jenn found herself married to rocker, Colton Nix. And boy did she ever break out of her mold! After an evening of drinking, Jenn found herself married to rocker, Colton Nix. Cole was never what Jenn would have picked as husband material so they immediately set out to annul the marriage. However, Cole convinces Jenn to give the marriage six months to improve his image and then he will help her advance her songwriting aspirations. When does a marriage of convenience ever just stay as an arrangement without feelings???? This was a terrific novel that immediately pulled me in to where I didn't want to put the book down. Cole and Jenn were great characters and I really enjoyed how much Kate from Unwritten played into the story as well. All in all a terrific feel good romance.

After the unmitigated success for me of the first book in this series, I felt sure that there was no way for the author to top that read, but she did! I absolutely loved this book! Colton and Jennifer didn't seem like they would work out, since he was so laid back when she was so organized, but they wound up balancing the other out. I loved the mixed up nature of their romance and the steam that they created in their bedroom scenes together! This book addressed some details about PTSD after a concert shooting, which was similar to events of recent memory. However, those scenes in the book felt a little awkward, as much as they also made me empathize with Jenn's character. It was my one complaint about the book, even though the rest of it was amazing! I have to say, I was sad to see this series end! I hope to check out more books by the author in the near future!

You know I liked the characters but it seemed that I was never won over..the "contract" was constantly brought up just as they were getting closer without really discussing what the contract meant. The way Rachel Lacey writes the stories easily hooks my mind, and I am keen to get to know the sharp and strong characters she creates and cheer for them, wanting them to find their way to the HEA. The stories are more character driven than focused on their surroundings and lifestyle, though there are enough bling, parting, and glamour in this story to give the celebrity status of the characters validity. But even with the dazzle of the rock star life, the characters have the kind of 'regular people' vibe to them, that is appealing. They are sincere, likable, thoughtful people, they have their strengths and weaknesses, they have their family drama, and they feel deeply and love unconditionally. Though Rocker Colton Nix represents in the limelights the kind of person - a womanizing millionaire rock star who sleeps around more than most of his peers - that normally would not be my favorite kind of hero, Colton managed to win me over rather easily. Underneath that rocker exterior, there is a considerate, caring, kind man, who loves what he does and cares about people around him. He has his vulnerabilities, he has his reasons to be the way he is, he doesn't try to hide it or be anything that he isn't. I liked him, a lot, and I felt for him when he was hurting and confused. His attraction to Jenn was rather adorable while steaming hot (with a way more boners than I needed to be aware of). Jenn MacDonald is organized, analytical, goal-oriented, and always prepared for everything. Her obsession with her ideal husband material showed an emotional immaturity that I found tiresome after awhile. I had a bit difficult time to connect with Jenn, to understand her reasoning, the hot-and-cold she was pulling with Colton, especially in the beginning. But she too grew on me, and seeing her mature and come to accept herself and her feelings as they were was refreshing. Encore is the best kind of summer reading there is for sizzling hot romance lovers. It is lively, entertaining, and enjoyable. There are enough emotional depth and growth with characters to be appealing without being loaded with angst and turmoil. The plot has the familiarity of a marriage of convenience stories yet is told in an original and fresh way that is captivating, and the many detailed love scenes entice while heating up the pages. This alluring and entertaining tale easily swept me away, a great mind-escape romance, that has you swooning and smiling at the end. ~ Four Spoons

Anyway, when the press gets a hold of the info, they decide to stay married for six months so that Cole can get some good publicity and Jenn can try to break her way into the song-writing business. As much as they try to keep this marriage in name only, their chemistry is too hot. But can they work it out? Cole has sworn off marriage after watching his parents switch spouses every few years and Jenn wants nothing more than to settle down with someone who is very much NOT in the business. Lacey has created another great pair. Jenn is so on top of her game (the perils of being a personal assistant) and Cole is more relaxed. They shouldn't work, but they do. And when they finally decide to stop pretending and make their relationship physical? Whew...the scenes were hot. I love the intricacies that Lacey put into the story. You saw their day-to-day relationship and the way they started to build their lives around each other. Of course real feelings were going to get involved. Silly characters. Anyway, it was great catching up with Kate and Josh and while I would have liked to see more of Cole and Jenn with their friends, I think the length and pacing of this book was just right. If I'm being honest, Jenn's PTSD storyline didn't quite make sense to me, and it seemed a little forced. Almost like it was added in as an afterthought. I also think the context of having her be at such a real life tragedy was a little too real. I think I would have preferred a lesser known or even fictional situation. Even so, it was a great read and a fantastic second installment of the Rock Star Duet series. I'm really enjoying the world that Lacey creates for her characters.

Sometimes it takes walking away to realize you already had everything you ever wanted and dreamed of. Although what happened in Las Vegas was devastating, there are haunting stories of survival that are still being dealt with. I liked how real life bled into this story so realistically. I truly enjoyed the second book in the Rock Star Duet series. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

As much as they are attracted to each other, Nix and Jenn have their own lives planned out, but then isn’t it life’s prerogative to rock and roll one’s plans? Circumstances lead to the choice of staying married and the process of marriage gives Jenn and Nix a chance to get to know each other, understand each other as individuals, respect their opposite personalities, and as gossip flares tainting their relationship and testing their courage, they realize that their hearts are at stake. Falling in love was never a part of the arrangement, but when did your heart ever listen to your brain! And when did love ever come announced! As Jenn and Nix go different directions trying to accept the reality of their situation, Katherine and Josh stand in support and strength with their unconditional love and empathy. A true “Encore” of Rachel Lacey’s outstanding and brilliant narration of her Rock Star Duet Series, she intertwines Katherine and Josh from her first book “Unwritten” with seamless effort and mastery, yet not taking away the limelight from Nix and Jenn. “Encore“ is an everlasting impression of a second chance!!! Waking up hungover & married to a rock star is not in that plan! That's okay, they can get it annulled. No one knows about it. Except someone leaked it to the gossip sites. Now what do they do? This was a great story. Colton has been damaging by the way his parents treat marriage as a revolving door. Jenn's parents are strictly religious & it's affected her attitude. Her sister rebelled but Jenn always stayed on the straight & narrow. I enjoyed the interactions with Kate & her husband, Josh. It illustrated that a star in the music world could be down to earth & have a great relationship. Kate's relationship with her fans was quite a contrast to Colton's hands off relationship. It really showed why their fans were so different. Colton & Jenn both ended up learning to step outside of their comfort zone. I enjoyed this 2nd story in the series. It can easily be read as a stand alone.

There were a few times in the first half where transitions between Jenn and Colton deciding to keep their relationship platonic and them kissing needed a bit of finessing and it was jarring, but overall this did not stop me from really enjoying being in this world. I loved the black moment. I also liked that, a relationship that could have been explained away with insta-love, was given a fun and romantic and somewhat slow burn-y relationship instead. This is definitely a book I'll read again.

Jenn and Cole have seriously got to be one of my favorite couples, and even better that it’s a book by Rachel Lacey! This story had so many amazing aspects about it that just drew me in and didn’t let me up for air until the very end! As you already know by the other reviews, Jenn and Cole wake up married one morning after a night of drinks. They decide to stay married for 6 months, knowing how it could benefit the both of them, but not really realizing their HEA was possibly in their future. You won’t be disappointed!

Much like the first book, I loved this one a lot. This time we have Jenn and Colton. She’s still working for Kate, but she has bigger dreams than that, ones she’s reluctant to share. After a drunken wedding with Colton, they agree to stay married for a few months. It’s in that period that they actually get to know each other and see the other under a different light. I loved this time between these two. I just loved the slow build, even when they were hot for each other. I honestly loved this story Much like the first book, I loved this one a lot. I honestly loved this story, it had a different vibe from the first one (which I adored, btw), but no less appealing. I absolutely recommend reading this series and I kinda wish there was more to come, lol. *Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*

After reading the first chapter at the end of Unwritten I couldn’t wait to read this book. It didn’t disappoint on but. Colt has lived the rocker life and when some bad press accompanied by a nickname just wont go away. Jen is Kate’s assistant and they hit it off right away. After a night of to much drinking the got married. Colt opens up a side of Jen she didn’t know she was missing. Colt has never known real love. This book will have you smiling and laughing as they get to know each other. L After reading the first chapter at the end of Unwritten I couldn’t wait to read this book. It didn’t disappoint on but. Another Winner! 💚💙 Abstinence can be so enticing AND frustrating lol. Jenn and Cole were on different sides of the camera, both knew the business tho and they just clicked. Being open, they shared a lot of themselves with each other. That was so Refreshing! I laughed, sighed, teared up, you know, all the feels. Jenn really was a bad-ass, with a quiet strength & pragmatic attitude. Cole, of course, was smokin. My heart melted at the awe & respect he had for Jenn. Encore, Rachel Lacey’s latest, took me by surprise, there were some emotional twists I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed the first in the series, so I was primed to like the second. Encore covers some of the same ground that Unwritten did, in terms of PTSD issues, but it does it so much differently. Lacey brings some real life situations into the narrative that make the entire story so much more powerful. Jenn and Cole are the perfect marriage of convenience (drunken mistake) story. This book is just as fantastic as the first one in this duet, Unwritten. Cole and Jenn "accidently" get married and then decide to stay together for six months in order to improve Cole's reputation and Jenn's wish to become a song writer. As they pretend to be married their feelings grow and their chemistry explodes but both have pretty clear goals about their futures and they don't include each other. Fake relationships are my favorite! I love when two people are so busy pretending to love each This book is just as fantastic as the first one in this duet, Unwritten. He's run from his heart long enough. Now it's time to take a stand. Give into the fear or take a chance on forever. Cole doesn't mind sharing those intimate details about himself, “that I haven’t had *** in da*n close to a year?” His voice dropped to something close to a growl. “Eff, yes, that’s what I’m saying.” Seriously Cole has no boundaries, “nope. All good there, although I must admit it was a little weird to jerk off while my wife slept downstairs.” Cole is like a caveman at times, “because I get to take you out tonight, show you off, and then bring you home to my bed.” I loved this book, and I actuall Cole doesn't mind sharing those intimate details about himself, “that I haven’t had *** in da*n close to a year?” His voice dropped to something close to a growl. “Eff, yes, that’s what I’m saying.” Seriously Cole has no boundaries, “nope. I was excited to read this book after having read Unwritten, the first book in this duet series. This one focuses on Kate's assistant Jenn. I liked Jenn in Unwritten and hoped she would get her own story. I never would have thought she'd be on to have a drunk Vegas wedding but she & Colton, even though they seemed an unlikely match were a great couple. At first they chose to stay married for different reasons but it didn't take long before they fell in love.

I enjoyed Jenn & Cole's unconventional love story. What started out as a drunken mistake turned out to be something truly special. I loved the times when they both lived in the moment without worrying about all of the reasons that their marriage shouldn't work. The ending was great and I like that it included an epilogue. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
