First, she must escape her gold digger of a guardian, who has plans of his own, which is to marry her himself to gain her ancestral castle. She knows that she must flee him but seeing as he doesn’t trust her due to an earlier escape attempt she joins forces with an unlikely ally. Spy to the King; Huw Ap Goronwy has been sent to collect the little heiress and take her back to King Stephan, which is an easier task said then done. Unlike those that are wanting to gain Matilda’s castle for themselves, Huw has a genuine claim to it. Years before there was a tumultuous event that happened between the Goronwy’s and the Comwyn’s, something that led Huw to swear a blood oath against Matilda’s kin. Both have built a wall around themselves and neither can bring themselves to let those defences down. She has an issue with men and he has a life-long thirst for revenge. But as their castle and their lives are at risk, they must join forces to overcome the trials and dangers they are facing. Tora Williams has created an engrossing story full of angst and sizzling sexual tension. The chemistry between Huw and Matilda crackles with mutual distrust and equal lust. The story is fast-paced and wonderfully written, it sweeps you along on a thrilling and dangerous journey as our couple try and find their feet with each other, learn to trust one another and most importantly try to stay alive. A richly detailed and charming story that grabs your attention from page one and keeps you gripped. Highly recommended!

https://donnasbookblog.wordpress.com/... I really enjoyed this story - it flowed very well and was a very easy read. Being a massive fan of historical fiction and non-fiction I do know a little about this period in history and for me the book read accurately and well in keeping with that period. S Matilda Comyn is a Norman heiress who wants nothing more than to be in charge of her own fate and not dependent on a man. The men in life have all let her down, starting with her father and currently with her guardian, Sir Reginald Fitzjohn. Matilda knows that he has been syphoning funds from her inheritance, Coed Bedwen on the Welsh border and had made no effort to find her a husband. His wife is gravely ill and she knows once she dies, Fitzjohn intends to marry her and steal her inheritance! She has tried to escape, but Fitzjohn watches her like a hawk. But all that might change with the appearance of Huw ap Goronwy. Huw has two goals in life, to reclaim Coed Bedwen and fullfil the blood oath against the Comyns who stole it from his family and killed his grandfather. Huw joined Owain, the king of Gwynedd when he was young and has been one of his best spies. He has been tasked with bringing Matilda to him. He hopes the reward will be Coed Bedwen and that he will finally get a chance to complete his oath. He is taken by Matilda from the first, she is nothing like he expected a Comyn to be and when he learns she is half Welsh, he questions if he will be able to harm her and keep his oath. They easily escape her guardian and travel together to the king, but fear causes Matilda to act rashly and she attempts to drug Huw. Before he succumbs to the poppy she used to lace his wine, he grabs her and ties her up. The next day he is furious and regrets being kind to her, a Comyn - he should have known better. So when the king's solution is for him to marry her - he is outraged and refuses. But when he learns it is the only way he will gain Coed Bedwen, he agrees. Plans are made to retake the castle, which Matilda insists on being part of. They marry and leave to scout out the castle. As they spend time together, they form a truce and a friendship. He wonders how he will manage to keep the oath that has been his driving force for years. But he finally accepts that Matilda is not responsible for the sins of her grandfather. He wants a life with her and hopes she feels the same. Matilda is falling for Huw, he may be the first man in her life to not let her down. But when the plan begins to fall apart and her life is in peril, Huw does what he must to save her and in doing so, crushes her heart. Huw tries to convince her of his love, but Matilda refuses to let go of old hurts and may cost them both the love of a lifetime. I thought this was a very good debut novel, the writing was good, but personally, I thought Matilda's actions in the last 10% of the book seemed overly contrived and unnecessary. It didn't ruin the book for me, but it was annoying enough to make it a 4 star read when it had been at least 4.5 up until that point. I found the story interesting, it had a fair bit of action, tepid-warm love scenes, wonderful secondary characters, a couple of twists and turns, as well as a couple of jaw dropping moments. Overall, I was happy with the book and would recommend it to medieval fans. *I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me by the publisher*

Most of you that reads my blog and follows my Instagram account may know How much I love Historical Romances. After one amazing Historical Romance I got addicted. And this book just got me so excited. In "Bound to Her Blood Enemy" we meet Matilda and Huw, and we get to join them through a journey to reclaim a land, Coed Bedwen. Both Matilda and Huw had plans, goals they wanted to accomplish. And from the very first few chapters to the very ending you get invested in the story and on the journey. Both Matilda and Huw had plans, goals they wanted to accomplish. And from the very first few chapters to the very ending you get invested in the story and on the journey. What made this book unique for me were the historical aspects. I don't know much about English history beside some aspects that are world's history, so reading about Norman, English, Welsh and blood oaths. I enjoyed the book a lot, from learning about some historical things, to the action, the surprises, the romance... Loved it all! I can't even pronounce some of those names and towns, but It was so much fun to think of how we do say them. From the first few page you just know things will get interesting. The past between the families that makes things hard for Matilda and Huw. And then the relationship that starts taking shape while we read the book... the "get to know each other" that we are a part of, because we get to learn more about each character as we read the books. I should also say that there is action, and some danger, that just kept me intrigued and glued to my phone while I read the book. That's something I also loved about this book. I got to enjoy it and have fun in a "I can't put the book down" way. Strong characters, lovely romance, dangerous plans and an balanced storytelling that just made the all plot much more epic and just like we were watching a movie. Because of all of those aspects, I totally recommend this book, and I can't wait to read more books by Tori Williams. She's amazing! Thank you Tora and Rachel for this amazing book and fun blog tour. [Got this book in exchange for a honest review.]

This book had me at the words “Welsh” and “castle”. As a Welsh person who grew up just inside the Welsh border, I am very well-versed in the centuries of conflict between the Welsh and the neighbouring English. The novel’s opening instantly drew me in, with an intriguing introduction to Matilda Comyn, our protagonist, and a mysterious figure who has just made an appearance at the castle gates. From there the story continues at a good pace, with plenty of action, adventure and romance to keep me gripped the whole way through. One of my favourite aspects of the book was the slow-burning romance between Matilda and Huw. Although the chemistry was there from the beginning, both Matilda and Huw were flawed individuals with demons to conquer and baggage to deal with along the way, so the development of their relationship felt believable and natural. The real strength of the novel, however, was in Tora Williams’ ability to capture perfectly the tension between the Welsh prince Owain Gwynedd’s people and Matilda Comyn’s Norman family. Matilda, with a Norman father and Welsh mother, finds herself stuck somewhere between the two nations as she struggles to fit in. Her journey to find herself and where she belongs was so relatable, and it really made me feel for Matilda as a character. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you love adventurous medieval tales of castles, blood feuds and romance, then you should definitely give this a read! Read more of my reviews at Sepia Tinted Window

A great read, set amongst the castles of Wales a few generations after the Norman conquest. Loved the byplay between Matilda who is determined to regain her inheritance and Huw who unbeknown to her has a rival claim to her castle and has sworn a blood oath. When a plan is hatched to regain the castle, Matilda is determined to have her part in it. As they work together a tentative romance begins that grows naturally. The setting is evocative and I felt like I had stepped back in time. Matilda and A great read, set amongst the castles of Wales a few generations after the Norman conquest.
